Mūsų namai / Our Home

Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home is owned and operated by the Labdara Foundation – a non-profit charity registered August 2, 1977 in the Province of Ontario. Labdara is a 90-bed long-term care home for seniors located in the West End of Toronto, Ontario, with a focus on caring for seniors of Lithuanian descent.

On June 25th, 2002, Labdara, the only Lithuanian Long-Term Care Nursing Home in Canada, opened its doors to receive its first residents. To this day, we continue to proudly serve our residents, and are pleased that Labdara is considered one of the best-rated Nursing Homes in the City of Toronto!

Labdara offers its residents a setting of familiarity with Lithuanian language, culture, customs, celebrations, food and worship. Constructed with community support spearheaded by the Lithuanian Community Association of Toronto (LCAT), and operated by the Labdara Foundation, it continues to faithfully serve the needs of the aging Lithuanian community. We are dedicated to serving the needs of our residents and meeting the demands of a growing senior population with care and compassion.

Overview of Facilities

The interior of the building provides a warm and comfortable environment for the seniors living at Labdara. There are 90 beds across 3 floors with common dining rooms and resident lounges on each floor. 54 beds are in single rooms with private bathroom and 36 beds are in 18 double rooms with a shared bathroom.  Our building has air conditioning throughout, including in resident rooms.  All residents are encouraged to bring their favourite personal belongings including artwork in order to personalize their rooms.

The ground floor houses the physiotherapy room, Ada’s Beauty Salon, the Chapel and the main building common room – Tado Svetainė. It also houses the kitchen for the Home – all of our meals are prepared on site by our kitchen staff. There is a family dining room on the second floor – available for booking for family meals and celebrations.

Residents of the facility are assisted by highly trained and skilled nursing staff and provided with specialized nutritional care services, housekeeping, and laundry services. Life enrichment programming is offered at the home and includes community outings for those able to participate.

With one floor specially dedicated to residents requiring specialized care, Labdara is equipped to provide care for Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other cognitive disorders.

Labdara offers a pleasant dining experience for its residents. Menus are carefully planned with the assistance of a Registered Dietician in order to accommodate specific resident dietary needs and cultural preferences with an emphasis on nutrition, variety and taste.

Labdara provides three nutritious meals daily with snacks that are prepared and cooked in our main kitchen and delivered directly to dining rooms located on each floor. Meals are also delivered to the resident in their room when required. Assistance with feeding is also provided to those requiring it.
